Welcome to the Kingdom of Principessa Farina
Hi I’m Teresa, AKA The Principessa Farina, AKA the Flour Princess!
Why the name? Principessa in Italian means Princess and it is the affectionate name my late father used for me growing up. Farina also translates to flour in Italian. One late spring day in 2014 surrounded by supportive friends and family, after many hours of brainstorming the name Principessa Farina came to be with the hope of bringing forward what had been years of giving gourmet dinner parties for loved ones, to bringing forward the means for me to supply my creations to a wider audience.
My heritage includes my father’s origins from Southern Italy in the region of Puglia and my mother’s origins in Sicily from the magical Aeolian Island of Salina. I was lucky enough to grow up watching both my grandmothers create dishes from their homeland, dishes which still inspire me today and encourage me to pay homage by sharing them with you all. Traveling to these regions further inspired me to bring home these recipes and share them with you here in Australia.
Until we can return to international travel, I hope you enjoy reading my experiences and look forward to sharing my treats with you very soon.
